Sat July 9: Al-Anon at Castro Valley Pride

Cooperating with community organizations, District 15 (Central East Bay) Al-Anon/Alateen provides an Al-Anon Family Groups information table full of AFG brochures, meeting schedules, and bookmarks.

Last Sunday Roger C and I represented Al-Anon at the SF Pride Celebration. Roger was heroic for carrying everything over on BART and setting up the table before my arrival! Because we were in the SoberFest mini-park, a secure alcohol- and drug-free zone, most of the revelers were already in recovery and wanted our pamphlets and meeting schedules to add to their own recovery programs--or to offer to their sponsees.

Next Sat July 9, we'll be at the Castro Valley Pride Event: another protected, sober, festival featuring music, food trucks, dance contest, local community organizations and commercial vendors.
Set-up 10 am. Event Noon - 5 pm. Break-down 5:15.
Castro Valley High School Stadium Plaza Parking Lot
19501 Redwood Road near Heyer Street
Castro Valley, CA 94546
LOTS OF FUN!
To volunteer for our Outreach table, contact Kathleen Z at 510-889-7682 or kathleenzAFG.yahoo.com

We need more volunteers, primarily English-speakers. Please print and share with your groups and ask your members to contact me (need first name, phone#, and email address) to volunteer to staff these events.

Let's practice the 12th Tradition and CARRY THE MESSAGE of hope!

People who've never heard of Al-Anon/Alateen are out there suffering, and grateful to learn there's a chair waiting for them in our meetings.

AL-ANON’S DECLARATION: LET IT BEGIN WITH ME When anyone, anywhere reaches out for help, let the hand of Al‑Anon and Alateen always be there and LET IT BEGIN WITH ME.

SPRING AND SUMMER 2015.......... OUR AL-ANON PUBLIC INFORMATION OUTREACH CAMPAIGN BEGINS

I've just registered our Central East Bay (District 15) Al-Anon Family Groups to participate in three events. We will set up an information table to provide Al-Anon & Alateen literature at community health and resources fairs. Details and flyers for the two May events below.

These events are an excellent opportunity for Al-Anon Family Groups to reach the community to introduce Al-Anon and Alateen. We explain how Al-Anon helps meet the needs of children and families, and invite them to our meetings.

We give them Serenity Prayer bookmarks, offer pamphlets such as “Detachment” and ”Freedom from Despair”, meeting schedules, and let them know it’s okay to love an alcoholic.

Our literature table is very comprehensive now with nearly everything in both English and Spanish.

We need both SPANISH-SPEAKERS and English-speakers !!!! So many people want to talk to us that we often need two bilingual Al-Anons at a time.

Please print and share with your groups. People are out there who've never heard of Al-Anon/Alateen, who are suffering, and who are grateful to learn there's a chair waiting for them in our meetings.

Let's practice the 12th Tradition and reach out to them!
